Gwen's Corner

Show report for Friday October 8th

UNT Rocky Horror

Report by London

Starting with a rather comical costume contest head by Jason, the audience was able to judge over 30 students who participated, and chose about 6 to be the victors of such odd costumes ranging from Janet and Eddie, to common sluts, whore, and a "Burlesque Bitch" even a giant squirrel... I think.
One thing common through the entire show, the audience was very participant. Loud, obnoxious, and most with prop packs, these youngin's were all very entertaining in and of themselves.
Brad was played by Cody... this being the first time having ever seen him in a Brad role, he was interesting. He defiantly has Brad hair. The bit of, "Hospitality, all I ever wanted to do was to use your telephone god dammit." His hair and Bostwick's hair on screen did the same little flippy thingy, I laughed out loud. Besides that, Cody Smash also proved he KNEW the lines. Not just under-breath talking of his lines, but when the film went down, he and Rachel-Janet, Kept going with the show, loud spoken lines and all. That was some major brownie points.
Janet as played by Rachel was win as always. Though this time, as previously stated, everyone was able to hear her when the screening went down, she kept going. (Black shoes and all :P ) Also her switch-a-roo with roles behind the red sheet was very comical and the whips were a nice added touch.
Columbia as made possible by Lyndi, was fantasmal. On the toucha scene, her and Magenta-Bizah did a very entertaining feel-up, feel-down etc. Lyndi always does good. Not really much else to say... :P
Riff-Raff-Gus. Well first off, when frank was whipping him down the aisles he did this ninja role onto the stage that was pretty impressive. Even audience members were cheering at that and a little whoo-ing. Gus always stayed in character whether it was on stage, flying off stage, or awkwardly getting back up onto the stage. He also managed to hit one of the front rower citizens square in the face with the wine bottle. WTG lol Also, when Riff and Magenta entered in the end as Commander, the audience screamed, appaluded and acted as if Johnny Depp or someone had just walked through the door.
Magenta-Bizah! Sexy was the common word associated there. Nicely done 'elbow sex' scene. Beyond that, really, She is always a great Magenta. Oh! Opening dance! I think everyone should just watch her facial expressions ... especially on the 'Double Feature' part...
Rocky-Britt. Lol. I just giggled when he had a hair poofball sticking out the Rocky wrap when Riff was to take the head piece off. Its Britt, His hair is always a show. I wrote in my notes, he makes such a happy-go-lucky yet clueless Rocky, its hilarious just to watch his facial expressions mixed with his bobbing hair.
Eddie with Mostly Mary, then a little bit of Jeremy. Double Eddie FTW AGAIN! Eddie is my favorite scene for some unknown childhood reason. Being that as it may, with two Eddies.... oh hell yeah. Mary always kicks ass at Eddie, looking all smug and tough. It was great seeing her punch Jeremy in the face. lol. From where I was sitting it looked like she really did so that's what I will leave it as.
Frank-n-Furter-Wes, I wrote down tons of little things he did that were funny/stupid/etc... but I will only mention a few. He did a great job handling himself in those heels up and down the aisles and stairs while chasing different characters. Most women could not have done that in such high heels. I applaud him for that. He kept in character in a way, at the Riff Role onto the stage, he somewhat gracefully, climbed onto the stage cross legged as if trying to be elegant and poise. That was a nice touch. Also, his standing Nazi salute as Dr. Scott at the dinner table was, personally, hilarious. The added hip twitch made the audience all cheer.
Criminologist played by the Sean, his stage presence was always highly cheered for, whether it was him making a masturbation joke, taking off cloths, or putting them on. The audience all loved his attitude and probably his crotch grabs.
Floor walkers: Jason, Jeremy and David. It kept catching my attention when Jeremy and Jason's voice were as one. They both were projecting fantastically, enough that even though a bunch of the audience members were calling out lines, jokes, or screaming they still had it covered. David, to me was hard to hear, only because of his location. However, when Magenta says "I grow weary of this world! When shall we return to Transylvania huh?" His voice and his alone ran through everyone with his witty remarks to make everyone burst out laughing. Similar thing happened with Jeremy, after Riff enters as the commander, his Jonas Brothers remark was said only by him, and yet again everyone began to laugh and applaud.
