Show report for Saturday March 25th

Report by Mr. Saturn

Humble audience member here again [edit: I've since joined cast... there goes the mystique...] with a show report, this time for Saturday, March 25th. Let's start before the show with this one, because that's really where the action began:

About 10 minutes until showtime, after I'd met with and talked with most of the casties for at least a couple of minutes, my friends and I were diligently waiting outside the theater for admission when Beau came out in full Frank garb. He says to us, "let me see your programs." We hand him one, and he says "I was afraid of this. They printed English in here, but he called me the other day and said he wasn't feeling well, so I'm playing Frank tonight." He then crossed out English's name in the program, and wrote in his own. My buddy Pat and I thought this was a little strange, considering we'd just talked to English and he was already all dressed out for Frank as well, so we went outside the theater to ask English about it. When informed, English said something along the lines of "that's bullshit," and went inside the theater to "clear things up."

We went back to dutifully waiting for the show, and went in when ordered to do so. Once inside, we danced along with whatever musical tracks Animal had for us that evening (I think I remember Chop Suey being played; I remember that one because English was singing along with it, and, getting in the spirit of things, we stood up and sang along too). When there was a lull in the music, Madame Leah interrupted with the announcements. There were a couple of minor cast corrections. Star would be playing Rocky tonight, Leah would cover Columbia, and Beau would be playing Frankie. When she said that, English came from backstage, tied up with a gag in his mouth. At this point, we knew it was going to be a fun evening.

The show started as per standard, all the casties were great, the movie was just quiet enough that we could hear it, but still primarily hear Starman shouting lines (Animal wasn't up to floor-walking, due to illness). During the car ride scene, my group had the pleasure of Bizah and Leah on our laps. Oh yeah, that's what we pay for. That, and the thinly-veiled homoerotic advances from English. *Rowr*.

The real fun began at the beginning of Sweet Transvestite: we turned to see Beau prancing down the aisle playing Frank, addressing Fred and Eris, who were our heroes for the evening. When Beau reached the stage, English came from nowhere and threw Beau back, taking over his place as Frank without missing a beat. This became the theme for the rest of the evening.

English and Beau continued trading places throughout the evening, during the lab scene, during Sword of Damocles... etc, etc, hilarity ensued. I was expecting some switcheroo action during the "Frank-the-Wonder-Fuck" scenes, but if it happened, I totally missed it. Next thing I remember would have to be the Touch-a Touch Me scene. It was a pretty hot premise to begin with, we had Eris and Star in the tank, and Bizah and Leah... well, they were heading back for our laps. Score! Time to write home to momma... until... here comes Animal in a Riddler costume. The son of a bitch stole our free show! At least we stole his cane in the ordeal. But, seriously, stealing a cane versus two hot chicks inevitably making out in your laps? Totally weak, Animal. Totally weak. :D

General Frank-swapping and mayhem continued through the dinner scene. During "dinner," James approached us and asked if we'd beat the crap out of Cristy (who was our Crimy for the evening) during the "what diabolical chicken" scene. Moments later, realizing his folly, he came back and said "don't actually beat her, just mime it." Well, I guess we're all right and beating people. I'm not that great, but some of my friends could handle the job pretty well. Besides, we had Animal's Riddler cane, why not take the opportunity to use a prop to its fullest?

The Frank Feud finally met its climax during the floor show. When Frank was scheduled to appear for "Don't Dream It," English came up in a wheel chair, Beau on a crutch, both covered in bandages. English took an early lead, constantly knocking away Beau's crutch, until Beau finally dragged English to the ground. Leah, thinking quickly, jumped up to finish the part, essentially becoming a third Frank-N-Furter!! By the time "Wild & Untamed Thing" began, both Franks settled their differences, and continued the show in an amazing synchronized Frank performance, that should have probably won the gold for team USA (or team UK, maybe that little distinction was why we didn't win it). When Glenn and Bizah (as Riff and Magenta) showed up to put an end to the dual-flamboyance, our competing Franks continued to move out of the other's way, eager to not get shot by the tri-dildo-laser. Of course, Madame Leah took the first shot, followed by an AMAZING showing of aim by Glenn, which took out both Franks in a single shot (though, technically, one of them tried to get back up again, but he was promptly dealt with). Sadly, team USA didn't win any marksmanship awards for this showing, either. I think the committee must be biased against us. Star couldn't quite handle the job of carrying up two franks, so she kinda gave up, but got shot anyway. Castles were launched, cripples were rolled out, good times were had by all, and the show came to a close.

In retrospect, my friends and I believe we may have been duped, that the whole Beau vs. English pre-show thing may have been staged, and that we were simply players in their game to emphasize the joke. Well, if that's the case... I don't give a God damn. It was still really fucking funny. Really, the lesson to be learned here is that the more people playing a character, the funnier that character is. My suggestion? Next week, let's have 14 Janets.
That'd really just crack me up.
